Every Spring the town of Lyons works together to help create a sustainable environment by participating in the Annual Spring Clean Weekend. All area residents are welcome to bring items for recycling, donation, and disposal. The goal of this event is reduce landfill items by providing responsible disposal of items that otherwise could not be recycled locally.
The weekend long event begins on Saturday with a Community-Wide Garage Sale with residents, churches and businesses around town holding garage sales from 8:00AM-12:00PM. A map of participating addresses will be posted.
The following day, in Bohn Park, the clean-up day will take place place from 9:00AM- 1:00PM. Acceptable items include:
-Small e-waste items that will be accepted for free include keyboards, mice, cables, cell phones, ink cartridges and microwaves.
-Scrap Metal and appliances (with more than 50% metal content) will be accepted.
In addition, charity(s) will be at Bohn Park to accept donations of lightly used household items, clothing, books, and small furniture to promote reuse. Items accepted for donation include gently used clothing of all types and seasons, small home appliances and electronics, toys, games, housewares, linens, books, CD’s, small furniture.

-Hard to recycle items accepted will include larger electronic items (e.g. TVs, monitors, printers, stereos, laptops, computers), appliances, white block #6 styrofoam, durable plastics (such as lawn furniture, buckets, trash cans, barrels), clothing, books, bicycle tires, bike tubes, porcelain toilets, sinks, plastic bags, printer cartridges, mattresses, box springs and scrap metal.
-Landfill (Car $13- Pickup or Trailer $18 -Vehicle + Trailer $25)– final prices will be updated.
There will be a charge per load for trash/ landfill items.
***HAZARDOUS items will not be accepted
