In 2010, Lyons completed one of the biggest public projects in its history. Two blocks of Main Street were completely rebuilt, from new water and sewer lines to energy-efficient lighting. Concrete and local sandstone sidewalks, water-conscious landscaping and strategically-placed public art have given Downtown Lyons a brand new attitude with vibrant gathering places where people linger to visit, shop and work. A variety of new restaurants have opened and existing restaurants have expanded! With more than 181 acres of municipal park land and open space and miles of Boulder County Open Space within walking and biking distance of Downtown, Lyons has a well-deserved reputation as a recreational mecca for locals and visitors alike. Music lovers also know Lyons as the home of Planet Bluegrass and the RockyGrass and Rocky Mountain Folks Festival concerts. But Downtown Lyons has a soundtrack of its own; from the Sandstone Summer Concert Series to the commercial venues that feature live music year 'round, Lyons hums with musical talent.
Lyons is a treasure; it has escaped becoming too commercialized, glamorized, standardized and suburbanized. Lyons
has a ruggedness and durability that appears to transcend from the sandstone of its surrounding hills and its historic
buildings. It is a place where families have lived for generations and where new families are coming to establish their
roots, raise their children and retire.
Lyons is located at the entrance to both the North and South St. Vrain Rivers, only twenty miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful red cliffs border the town, which features enough amenities to be comfortable but still enjoys a traditional small-town atmosphere.

Lyons has mild climate. It is cool in the summer and fairly warm in the winter since it is located in a bowl surrounded by sandstone. There's rarely a day without at least a few rays of sunshine!
