✭Wool Day with Fancy Tiger and Crust ✭ June 5th 3:30 – 9:00 PM
Spend the afternoon and evening here at the Farmette. First some time with with our precious goats and alpacas (and babies!), then choose between a spinning or knitting class followed by cocktail hour & a delicious farm dinner!
Spinning Yarn 101 ~
Students will learn the age-old craft of handspinning wool fiber into yarn in this fun class taught by Fancy Tiger Crafts co-owner Jaime Jennings. Learn to spin wool roving into a rustic yarn on a drop spindleundefineda simple, portable tool which originated thousands of years ago. Connect with your ancestors while learning this relaxing and meditative ancient craft. Class fee includes a drop spindle and 2 ounces locally-sourced wool roving.
Knitting class ~ Sunne Meyer, Fancy Tiger and Craftsy knitting instructor.
In the knitting class, you will have the option to choose between two mason jar cozies – one suitable for beginners, one more advanced. Sunne Meyer, Fancy Tiger and Craftsy knitting instructor, will lead you through the patterns. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling and bring size 4 or 5 knitting needles of their preference. Materials fee includes one skein blue sky organic handspun cotton (enough for two cozies), two mason jars, both printed patterns and two vintage buttons.
Cocktail hour with Nate of Garnish. Then a wonderful Farm dinner with Dawn of Crust.
After classes and cocktails, have a seat at the long table in the field and feast upon wood-fired, artisan pizza, salad with ingredients picked from the Lyons Farmette, and dessert. Crust Rustic Wood Fired Pizza uses a mobile, copper-clad oven to cook pizzas in 90 seconds at a temperature of 850 degrees. Team Crust uses local, farm ingredients, organic flour milled in Colorado, and heaps of care to create delicious and eclectic pizzas.
