Garden Maintenance ~ Tuesday, July 22nd 5:30 – 7:30 PM
The events of sowing and harvesting surround the true character of our efforts; vigorous growth is natures’ guarantee but not always what our heart desires – roots, shoots, flowers, and fruits.
Crop Maintenance is the foundation of food production. The quantity and quality of production depends on your ability to maintain environmental conditions that discourage disease and pests while directing growth. A good maintenance program requires very little of your time (< 2 hrs/wk for a 10′x 25′ garden). In each topic, watering, weeding, thinning, pruning, and trellising, there is a wealth of cultural practices, knowledge, and awareness that inform a producers preferences. What are yours?
Facilitated by August Miller of FoodShed Productions: organic farmer, residential backyard farming coach, and social entrepreneur.
