What is Economic Gardening?

Economic gardening is a development methodology which is distinguished from "economic hunting" which is the typical way a town, city, state or country usually operates. Economic hunting attempts to recruit companies to invest in a community by offering tax, rezoning and other fiscal incentives, thereby competing with all other towns and cities in the area. Economic gardening, instead, works with existing local entrepreneurs by offering them market research, competitor intelligence, industry trends information, marketing lists, strategy development, web optimization and customized research.
